Washington County food scraps program

About this project

Washington County Food Scraps Project

Aubrey D. earned her Silver Award by partnering with the Washington County Public Health and Environment staff to bring the Washington County Food Scraps program to the Washington County Fair. After learning about the current food scraps program, Aubrey knew she wanted to be part of making this a greater impact for our community.

Aubrey created educational content for the public and staffed an educational booth at the Washington County Fair.  She also educated the 4-H food stand committee and volunteers on what could be collected as food scraps during the fair.

Through this project she was able to collect 110 pounds of food scraps.  This is equivalent to saving 84 pounds of coal burned and 6,750 gallons of water!!

You can find more information about the Washington County Food scraps program at https://www.washingtoncountymn.gov/2969/Food-Scraps-Collection
